What is Vendor Paid Advertising and what should you expect?

Vendor Paid Advertising is essentially the advertising that is undertaken to sell your property when you are footing the bill.

This type of advertising can consist of

  • Signboards
  • Website listings
  • Newspaper ads etc

You do not always have to agree with the agent’s approach, particularly because you are the one paying for the advertising and you should be getting a sleeker campaign, because you are not relying just on the agent’s funds.

For example, if you want to avoid print advertising and opt for internet only- then make that clear to your agent.

Another advantage of VPA is that the agent won’t rush your sale to recover their losses on advertising.

Funds for vendor paid advertising should go into a trust account and receipts should be issued for all transactions related to the cost of advertising.

VPA can be expensive and it can be argued, that the campaign also advertises the Agent and not just your property.

Agents don’t really have to advertise to attract buyers to your area, as buyers already have chosen the area they want to be in.

Advertising your home, is about building a profile of your property, to attract buyers who are already looking in your area.

If an agent tells you that you need to spend thousands in advertising to sell your home, move on and find yourself another agent.
