Q: Is the tenant responsible for emergency plumbing issues if they actually caused the problem? My tenant had to call a plumber last week and the plumber discovered that there was hair blocking the drain.

A: Plumbing maintenance is a tenant’s responsibility. In the case of an emergency, the landlord should be called. If an issue arises that was caused by the negligence of the tenant, such as is the case here, it is the tenant’s responsibility to pay the plumber.
