How to get started in crypto currencies

cc.png

There are over a thousand different crypto-currencies at the moment and numbers will definitely keep growing.

Most people are starting with Bitcoin or Ethereum and then spread the currency into diverse portfolios in case the price crashes.

Crypto currency is held in a crypto-wallet, which are essentially programs that can be downloaded.

Before you download a wallet, check whether your chosen wallet holds your chosen crypto currency, or whether the currency you purchased, can be left in storage on the exchange you bought it from.

When you buy your currency for the first time, you need to verify your identity on the exchange.

Usually your drivers licence should be sufficient.

Different exchanges will list different currencies for sale and you have the option of leaving your coins at the exchange or transferring them to your own wallet.

Some of the currently most popular currencies are:

  • Ethereum (ETH)
  • Ripple (XRP)
  • Dogecoin (DOGE)
  • Golem (GNT)
  • Monero (XMR)
  • IOTA (IOTA)

Cryptos are increasingly being used and accepted by more and more merchants and many stores now have QR codes near the cash registers that can be scanned to make crypto payments.
